Frequent questions about the course

When is the best time to do the KG Hypnobirthing course?

Given the choice, we would advise doing the course in the second trimester of your pregnancy so you can enjoy the benefits during your pregnancy as well as during the birth of your baby. It is not so much a matter of learning facts, but more a matter of integrating the information so that it becomes second nature to you. You can do this even a few weeks before your baby is born.

What will I learn on my hypnobirthing course?

  • An in-depth explanation of how to facilitate the body to work efficiently and comfortably.
  • How your state of mind affects the hormones you produce and how the body works.
  • Effective relaxation, visualisations and breathing exercises.
  • A range of tools to release fear and build confidence.
  • Comforting massage.
  • How your birthing partner can be supportive.
  • How your body is designed to give birth with efficiency and comfort.
  • Knowledge and information about pregnancy and birth that is based on evidence and not on hospital’s routines or protocols.
  • An in-depth explanation of the maternity services, and how to work with the system to achieve the best results for you.
  • A simple practice routine to support you at home.

What course materials am I given?

We will provide you with relaxation audios before the course so you can start to practise straight away. At the course, we will give you the Hypnobirthing folder of handouts to support you during the rest of your pregnancy and the birth of your baby.

Does the birth partner need to come to hypnobirthing too?

A hypnobirthing birth partner will be knowledgeable and able to support you as you give birth. You will practise together before the birth which will bring you closer together. For couples in a relationship, this deepens their connection as a couple, as well as their bond with their baby. A close friend or family member who is going to be in the birth room to support you when you give birth can come to the course, as well as your partner. It is important that they understand what you are doing and how best to support you. There is no additional charge for this. This does not apply to birth professionals (including doulas).

As such, a partner is not a requirement and many women choose to come to the course on their own. This could be because they are not planning to have birthing partners at their birth, their partners are unable to attend or for any other reason.

What is the best format for hypnobirthing?

We can deliver the KG Hypnobirthing in different formats which can be tailored to the individual.

  • Private sessions can be delivered in person or over zoom and are offered 2 evening sessions delivered over a 2 week period at days and times agreed by both parties.
  • Group sessions are offered as a full weekend course delivered over 1 full day session. It can be lovely to do hypnobirthing as part of a group because you can meet other like-minded expectant couples, exchange ideas and learn from each other’s questions and experiences.

*The content you are taught on the face-to-face course and the virtual course is exactly the same. We teach 8 hours of KG Hypnobirthing on both courses. Contact us to discuss the timings that are best suited to you.
